The Remasters

Gig one: April 26th at The Lion. It was the first day of great weather in a long time, so it was nice to open up the doors and let the breeze blow all night. Not the wildest night of the year, but good times for sure.

Gig two: Boring Fire Department Extrication Team Benefit. Those are the guys who come out and save your ass when your car’s wrapped around a tree. Jaws of Life and all that good stuff. Our good friend Kevin is on the team and they’re headed for the national team championships in New York. The whole town came out to support them and The Remasters were there too. Unfortunately the weather man got it all wrong and instead of 70 and sunny it was 50 and pouring rain. And we were playing outside. I’m told the couple hundred or so folks inside the firehouse could hear us just fine, so as long as they had fun we had fun.

We’re gearing up for a busy summer- lots of great dates all over the calendar. But while we’re preparing ourselves, we’re also looking for some new rehearsal space. After a 3 year run in the basement of the Portland Cement Company we find ourselves welcoming a change of venue. Got some extra warehouse space? A secure barn? A 20×30 room in your inner SE PDX factory that’s accessible after hours and on weekends?

We’re going to carry that theme with us through the rest of 2008 because, well, it just works. We didn’t get any pics of ourselves due to the rapid fire nature of our 90 minute super set, but I did manage to snap this one of the roto rooter guy who was called in because someone blew up a toilet. Well, not so much blow up as flush a “piece of clothing.” That’s about all he could tell us.

Wow wow wow. If things keep going like they did last night this summer is going to be AWESOME! Another Saturday at the Lion didn’t disappoint. There were angels, twins, and a line out the door all night long. It was dancing room only all around the stage.

The Remasters have returned from their big weekend out. Actually, we made the 2 hour drive back to Portland in the middle of the night, but everyone arrived safe and sound (if not a little tired today). The Astoria Event Center is AMAZING! Fred and Chrissy have a really special place there and we can’t wait to get back and rock the house again. Next time we think we’ll take them up on their offer to crash back at the house and make a real weekend out of it.
